Portal Conference Live Blogging Rod Tosten Welcome

Here we are at the Portal Conference at Gettysburg College. Rod Tosten VP of Information Technology at Gettysburg kicked things off with his welcome address thing morning. He made note that there are 165 people at the conference from 80 different schools. He also noted that 60 of the people did not yet have portals at their schools.

Questions we wrestle with here at Gettysburg College that he wanted attendees to think about this week:

  • What does “web” mean? Is there a new way to look at what we do centered around user services?
  • Who owns the web? It’s time for us to be servants and not masters of the web.
